Wow, well, here we are, September 2020 and dealing with new wedding restrictions! The news has, quite frankly, knocked me for six and I'm sure it has you as well.
Firstly, and most importantly, I hope you and your loved ones are all safe and well.
Secondly, let’s talk weddings. Specifically, your wedding.
I completely understand that these are hugely stressful times. The added pressure of your upcoming wedding and the uncertainty and changing restrictions around that can’t be easy.
As things stand now weddings are able to go ahead but with strict guest restrictions - as of 23 September 2020 this is 15 people allowed at your ceremony and reception.
It’s important to note that according to the official Government guidance this number DOES NOT include your suppliers. Which is a small silver lining and allows you to fill your quota of “15” with guests.
Since March I’ve been working with all my couples with weddings booked in for 2020. We’ve kept in regular contact and I’m over the moon that all of those weddings have been able to be rescheduled with minimum stress.
Since the Government announcement that restricted the number of people allowed to attend a wedding to 15 I updated this page with my unavailable dates for 2021 and 2022. I realise that the news that these restrictions could (emphasise on the COULD) be in place for up to 6 months will cause even more uncertainty for couples and by working together we can make sure that you still get an amazing day wherever and however you celebrate.
Scroll right down to the bottom of the page to see those dates or carry on reading to see the answers to some of the more common questions that have been cropping up. I hope by answering them here I can ease any worries.
Great news! Elopements and micro weddings are absolutely incredible. If you do decide to go ahead then it goes without saying, I would still love to be part of your day!
I’ve put together some ‘micro’ packages and we can amend your contract and the package you’ve booked to ensure that you’ve got the best photography coverage of your day.
If you want any hints, tips or ideas for your new plans then let me know and we can have a good old natter about it!
WHAT IF WE WANT TO HOLD TWO WEDDINGS NOW?
So many couples are going for this option. They’re having a small, legal ceremony and then planning a big old party for a later date.
A lot of people are opting to have a humanist / celebrant perform another ceremony or blessing on this later date and treating it as a second wedding date. Why restrict yourself to just one wedding eh?!
If this is something you’ve decided to do then fab! We can have a chat about how it will all work. Remember to check my availability before you go booking in that second date!
WILL ANYTHING CHANGE WITH YOUR WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHY IF WEDDING RESTRISTIONS ARE EASED IN 2021?
Essentially, no. Since weddings were allowed to take place again I have been shooting some incredible days - albeit slightly smaller than usual. Whatever the restrictions are eased to then I’ll work with you to ensure that your wedding film package suits your plans.
The only changes are in terms of my social distancing. In my personal life I’m still continuing to limit social contact and sticking to the Government guidance.
When it comes to your wedding day please don’t be offended if I don’t greet you with my usual hug or you see me washing my hands regularly or using hand sanitiser at your wedding. As we head into 2021 I’m attending weddings on a more regular basis and want to keep myself, you and your guests healthy!
Of course, if I – or anyone in my household – was showing symptoms then I’ll be following the guidance and self isolating. I wouldn’t put you or your guests at risk by attending your wedding. Which brings me onto my next point…
I will follow the government guidelines by self-isolating and I will be unable to shoot your wedding. Your health, and the health of your guests, is of the utmost importance and I don’t want to put anyone at risk of infection.
To be prepared, I have joined up with a small group of wedding videographer friends ( who are all of a similar style to me) and one of them would cover your wedding if needed. In the event that this happens, I would inform you immediately and, circumstances allowing, arrange an online meeting between me, the back up videographer and you, to go through the plans for your wedding. Your wedding would be filmed exactly as I would do so. I would then edit the footage from the back up videographer and deliver your final films as normal.
Whether a postponement comes about because of your own decision or because of a forced restriction it’s heartbreaking. For the last 6 months I’ve been speaking to 2020 couples who have nearly all been in this position and it’s hugely emotional. The one thing that has kept them all going is reminding themselves it’s a postponement not a cancellation. Your wedding will still happen and it is going to be BRILLIANT!
When it comes to a postponement then communication is key here!
Please let me know as soon as possible if you are thinking of doing this. I am more than happy to move your wedding booking to your new wedding date (if I am available). I really want to shoot your wedding – so please do check on my availability if you are considering this.
Below I have put the dates that I currently booked for 2021 and 2022. I will be keeping this list regularly updated. If you are at the point of discussing new dates then please use this to see my availability.
It’s always worth giving me a call as well when it comes to talking dates with your venue. My number is 07843 605 724 and I’m available any time to chat.
